The Center for Contemplative Mind in Society, based in Florence, Massachusetts, worked within higher education to support institutional and personal transformation through contemplative practice for nearly three decades. Its programs helped education professionals weave contemplative approaches into curricula, services, and living/learning environments to improve teaching and learning and to promote engaged action for a more just and compassionate society. The center carried initiatives such as the Association for Contemplative Mind in Higher Education and the Journal of Contemplative Inquiry, and in 2022 announced a pause of public operations with plans to continue through new institutional hosts once required approvals are obtained. In 2021, David W. Robinson-Morris was appointed executive director, marking a notable leadership development. The organization functioned with a small team in the higher education space, and its activities were connected to broader contemplative education networks even as operations shifted in 2022.
