The Belk Foundation invests deeply in public education—specifically K-3 achievement and excellent teachers and leaders, both critical building blocks for successful education. 

As a private, family foundation, we actively seek like-minded partners throughout North Carolina who share our vision. But we don’t just invest with money. We invest with time, with advocacy, with action. We pursue our mission with a hands-on approach, working “on the ground” and learning by asking thoughtful questions of smart people who have experienced success in education first-hand: effective teachers, administrators of schools that have defied the odds, leaders of like-minded organizations who are exceeding their goals. We build relationships with high-achieving organizations and results-oriented school systems in the hopes that, together, we will be catalysts for lasting change.
