Based in Wimberley, Texas, the Texas Land Trust Council is a small nonprofit that coordinates a coalition of more than 30 organizations dedicated to conserving Texas lands and waters. It functions as a nonpartisan, objective voice for conservation, aiming to protect drinking water, wildlife, and Texas's natural and cultural heritage. The council collaborates with private landowners and citizens to keep the landscape intact for current and future generations and traces its origins to the late 1990s in partnership with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, now operating as an independent nonprofit.

Land trusts in Texas are charitable organizations collectively credited with protecting over 1.7 million acres across farms, ranches, wetlands, wildlife habitat, urban parks, forests, and river corridors. They use tools such as conservation easements to offer a voluntary path to protection without relying on government funding, and TLTC has engaged in partnerships to advance easement projects, including a 2019 collaboration with Hill Country Conservancy, NRCS, and TPWD.
