Texas Historical Foundation is a small Austin-based nonprofit that funds historic preservation projects and promotes Lone Star history education. It supports preservation work for buildings, artifacts, documents, and archaeological resources across Texas, with gifts not tied to government budgets to sustain activity during economic downturns. Since 1983 it has carried out its educational mission through the publication of Texas HERITAGE Magazine and by awarding educational grants for documentaries, books, and research projects. The organization operates within the museums, historical sites, and zoos sector. In April 2026, THF announced a partnership with Friends of the Texas Historical Commission to support its scholarship program. The foundation remains engaged with Texas history communities through conferences and related activities.
