The Tennessee Secretary of State is a state government department led by Tre Hargett, who has served as Tennessee's secretary of state since 2009 and has been re-elected in 2013, 2017, 2021, and 2025. As chief executive officer of the Department of State, he oversees more than 300 employees and directs services that reach every department and agency in state government.
