TASH is an international association dedicated to disability advocacy and human rights for people with significant disabilities and support needs. It seeks to reduce segregation, abuse, neglect, and institutionalization by promoting inclusive communities. The organization pursues its aims through advocacy, research, professional development, policy work, and information and resources for parents, families, and self-advocates. Research underpinning its inclusive practices indicates these approaches can improve outcomes for people beyond those directly affected. Founded in 1975 and based in Washington, D.C., TASH operates as a member-driven network of advocates and professionals. Members engage through the chapter network, volunteer committees, and training and events that address community needs and uphold rights.
