Taproot Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco that supports social change by coordinating pro bono work for nonprofits and other social impact groups. It matches nonprofit staff with qualified volunteers to address challenges in marketing, strategy, human resources, and information technology. Engagements range from long-term, team-based projects to one-on-one consultations, giving organizations access to professional resources they might not otherwise have. Founded in 2001, the organization operates with hundreds of staff and has developed a structured program model through two decades of activity.

Over its history, Taproot has partnered with more than 19,000 organizations and mobilized over 150,000 skilled volunteers, delivering about 1.9 million hours of pro bono service valued at more than $300 million. In 2024 the foundation announced the introduction of Pro Bono Hourly Valuation to quantify the value of its pro bono work.
