Sylabs is a small software development company based in Reno, Nevada, that specializes in container technology for high-performance computing. Its signature product, Singularity, first appeared in 2016 and quickly gained traction among scientists who needed a dependable way to package and run data-intensive workflows on large-scale systems, including many of the world's leading supercomputers. To serve enterprise and research customers who require formal support, Sylabs extended Singularity with SingularityPRO, a commercially supported edition designed for enterprise workflows. The platform's open-source origins underpin its broad uptake in both academia and commercial HPC facilities, reflecting its role as a foundational tool for HPC work. 

Its customer base encompasses researchers, academic institutions, and commercial HPC centers seeking reliable containerization to support AI, machine learning, analytics, and other data-driven workloads. In November 2024, Sylabs announced a collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories to host a Birds of a Feather session at SC24 on integrating confidential computing into high-performance cloud workflows, illustrating ongoing engagement with national-lab-scale HPC initiatives.
