Insights

Partnership Opportunities Sustainable Harvest International has established strategic collaborations with organizations like Harvard Business School, Evergreening Alliance, Greenbar Distillery, and EARTH University. These partnerships indicate a strong network interested in sustainability, environmental restoration, and social enterprise, presenting opportunities to offer advanced tools, training, or funding solutions to support their initiatives.

Funding and Grant Potential With an annual revenue of less than one million dollars, SHI could benefit from additional financial support or grant services. Targeting philanthropic foundations and CSR programs in corporations aligned with environmental and social impact may open avenues for sponsorship, program funding, or technology donations to enhance their sustainable farming programs.

Technological Engagement SHI actively utilizes modern digital tools such as AWS, Mailchimp, Google Maps, and Asana, demonstrating openness to innovative technology solutions. This presents opportunities to introduce tailored digital platforms, data management tools, or analytics services to streamline program delivery and stakeholder communication.

Expansion and Scaling The organization’s focus on long-term ecological and economic solutions across Central America suggests potential for scaling operations or replicating successful models in other regions. Developing or offering scalable technology, training materials, or operational support could help SHI expand their impact efficiently.

Environmental and Social Impact SHI’s emphasis on reforestation, food security, and sustainable agriculture aligns with growing market trends toward ESG investing and impact-driven development. Creating solutions that measure and communicate social and environmental outcomes would appeal to funders, partners, and beneficiaries seeking transparent and impactful initiatives.

Sustainable Harvest International (SHI) is a nonprofit with over 27 years of experience in sustainable farming. SHI has partnered with low-income farming families in rural communities across Central America since 1997. Using organic vegetable gardens, wood-conserving stoves, seed saving, and many other sustainable farming methods, SHI's local field trainers work with individuals and communities to preserve tropical forests and improve livelihoods. During our program, farmers learn how to provide nutritious, healthy food for their families, create and maintain an agribusiness, and reforest their surrounding environment. Our holistic approach to solving the agricultural, ecological and economic problems of Central America is innovative, hands-on and long-term. Our program improves food security, ecosystem restoration, and local economies.
