STARS is a Nashville-based organization focused on youth mental health and substance misuse intervention within schools and communities. Since 1984, it has supported more than 100,000 youth annually by providing access to prevention, intervention, and treatment services, including free school-based counseling that addresses depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidal ideation, and related concerns. The organization also offers treatment services for adolescents aged 13 to 18 dealing with alcohol and drug misuse and vaping, complemented by community-based prevention and intervention efforts aimed at educating faith and business communities as well as the unhoused population about the opioid epidemic.
