Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, based in Boston in the New England region, provides broad rehabilitation services for post-acute patients and stands among the largest facilities of its kind in the United States. It originated in 1971 as the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Hospital and now operates within the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network. The Spaulding Rehabilitation Network includes Spaulding and Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospitals, three skilled nursing facilities, and the Boston and North End Centers along with The Clark House at Fox Village, offering a regional continuum of care. The network operates 196 inpatient rehabilitation beds, 120 long-term acute care beds, and 331 skilled nursing facility beds, supported by 17 outpatient rehabilitation centers across Eastern Massachusetts. As part of the Partners HealthCare System, Spaulding physicians collaborate with colleagues at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital to address post-acute care needs through integrated services. A recent development is a research collaboration with Neuro-Innovators LLC announced in April 2026.
