Sozo Children is a Birmingham, Alabama-based non-profit that supports vulnerable children in Uganda with a mission to empower them to become thriving leaders for Jesus Christ. It provides a Christ-centered continuum of care that rescues children from extreme poverty, abuse, abandonment, and trafficking; restores families; and equips both children and families to influence their communities. The organization currently serves more than 124 children through Sozo Village and pursues four Ugandan-led outreach initiatives—discipleship, entrepreneurship, skill development, and health—with 25 graduates having completed university or trade studies. A central feature of its approach is a community-led savings program that helps participants cover basic needs such as food, housing, and school fees, emphasizing sustainable empowerment beyond direct aid. While rooted in Uganda through Ugandan leadership, Sozo operates from its Birmingham base and continues to expand its reach, including land acquisition in Uganda in 2022 and leadership appointments in 2023, such as a Ministry Outreach Leader, a store manager for Sozo Trading Co., and a Public Relations and Communications Specialist.
