The Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) is a public-interest nonprofit focused on advancing energy efficiency, beneficial electrification, and clean transportation across Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Based in Boulder, Colorado, and founded in 2001, SWEEP collaborates with utilities, state and local governments, environmental and community groups, businesses, national laboratories, and federal agencies to promote programs, policies, and funding that address climate change, support underserved communities, and reduce energy and transportation costs. Over more than two decades, SWEEP's leadership has supported progress in energy efficiency, the avoidance of new power plants, and the reduction of emissions across the Southwest. In May 2023, SWEEP partnered with the Rocky Mountain Institute to engage local governments and promote using Inflation Reduction Act funds to maximize efficiency, consumer savings, and climate benefits. The nonprofit operates through collaborations with a range of public and private entities to advance policies and programs that align energy efficiency with community needs.
