The Southwest Business Improvement District (SWBID) operates as a civic and social organization serving the Southwest quadrant of Washington, DC. Its scope spans roughly 500 acres south of the National Mall, incorporating Federal Center South, the Southwest neighborhood around the Waterfront Metrorail Station, and the District Wharf. SWBID aims to improve cleanliness, public infrastructure, beautification, and placemaking, while organizing initiatives and bringing together community groups and stakeholders on topics such as transportation, hospitality, building management, and the arts. Based in Washington, DC, the organization serves the Southwest DC community, including residents, businesses, and other local stakeholders. It acts as a platform for collaboration among community groups, property owners, and municipal partners to enhance mobility, infrastructure, and public spaces in the district. In 2023, SWBID unveiled an electric vehicle fleet to support mobility within the area.
