The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that collaborates with states to improve education from pre-K through Ph.D. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, it was founded in 1948 by Southern governors and legislatures to advance education and enhance the region's social and economic life. The body operates as a regional interstate compact that coordinates education and workforce policy across Southern states. In 2026, SREB announced a partnership with the American Institutes for Research to collaborate on education and workforce initiatives.
