South China University of Technology is a major institution of higher education directly overseen by the Ministry of Education. It is based in Guangzhou, Guangdong, and operates on two campuses: the Wushan Campus and the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center Campus. Established in 1952 as the South China Institute of Technology, the university has evolved into a multidisciplinary institution with a core emphasis on engineering and science, alongside development in management, economics, humanities and law. In recent years, demand for graduate programs has exceeded supply, and the undergraduate employment rate in 2011 reached 99.10%. In May 2026, SCUT formed a partnership with IEEE PES to advance collaboration in the power and energy sector.
