South Brunswick Township is a local government in Middlesex County, New Jersey, serving about 50,000 residents across 41 square miles. It comprises five communities—Dayton, Deans, Monmouth Junction, Kendall Park, and Kingston—and sits in a suburban setting midway between major metropolitan areas. The township's governance emphasizes fostering a sustainable economy, supporting business growth, expanding housing options, investing in infrastructure, and pursuing environmentally friendly initiatives. Economic development has been supported by retail clusters along Routes 1, 27, and 130, and by its location along the Route 1 corridor between Princeton and New Brunswick, which has attracted high-tech companies. Recent actions include acquiring 207 acres of wooded lands to strengthen open space, and partnering with Middlesex County and the state to preserve more than 390 acres since 2019. In 2024, the township also progressed a 1.5-mile realignment and extension of County Route 522 to improve transportation links.
