Solano County Transit (SolTrans) operates as a Joint Powers Authority that delivers public transportation in southern Solano County, serving the cities of Vallejo and Benicia. The arrangement consolidates the two cities’ transit programs under one agency, a transition completed on July 1, 2011. SolTrans runs seven local fixed routes in Vallejo, four limited-service routes during school in-service dates in Vallejo and Benicia, and five intercity routes to surrounding areas, with express service linking to Contra Costa County communities El Cerrito, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek and with regional connections to BART. SolTrans also provides ADA complementary paratransit, a SolTrans-branded dial-a-ride option in Benicia, and administers Local and Intercity Taxi Scrip Programs, including Solano County’s intercity program described as innovative and award-winning for ambulatory ADA paratransit qualified individuals. The agency is based in Vallejo, California, and a recent leadership development occurred in January 2024 with Terry Scott being appointed Chair of the Board of Directors.
