SMRTGrid, INC is a privately held corporation with headquarters in Baltic, SD that designs, manufactures, sells and services fault and stability monitoring hardware and software to customers within the power transmission industry. SMRTGrid aims to provide hardware and software solutions that can overcome any obstacle from rough terrain to extreme weather conditions in order to deliver real-time electrical fault and stability data to those responsible for maintaining the energy grid. The Innovation: SMRTGrid™ technology is a utility tower/pole monitoring and communication system consisting of multiple custom-designed monitoring devices which will be attached to utility towers and poles. The monitoring devices transmit electrical fault, acceleratory and positional data to an aggregation system for processing and storage. The data aggregation system also displays historical and current grid status information on a geographic map through the SMRTView™ dashboard, providing real-time fault and stability information to end users such as a lineman on their smart phone or similar device. Managers and lineman will now have immediate notification of electrical faults on their overhead power transmission lines as well as access to data that informs them of towers, poles or sections of line that are are down or experiencing problematic movement, where they are located, and how they were equipped.
