SMHa is an architecture and planning firm based in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, with origins dating to a 1990 founding prompted by Hurricane Hugo to support rebuilding the Lowcountry through sustainable, resilient design. The practice began as Stubbs Muldrow Herin and was reorganized in 2019 as SMHa Inc., led by Margie Longshore and a leadership team, and it is certified as a small woman-owned business (SWBE).

It operates as a mid-sized firm with a core group of licensed architects able to stay assigned to a project from programming through construction closeout. It has developed coastal design expertise, including an understanding of historical vernacular, complex site and climate conditions, and applicable building codes and zoning, as well as the local economic context. The firm maintains long-standing relationships with local government staff and a broad regional network of engineering, landscape architecture, cost estimating, and construction firms to support project delivery.
