SkyTruth is a conservation technology nonprofit based in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, founded in 2001. It uses satellite imagery and AI to identify environmental threats and to accelerate climate action and biodiversity protection. Since its founding, organizations around the world have relied on SkyTruth’s tools to support conservation efforts and to hold polluters accountable for harmful activities that would otherwise remain unseen. The organization collaborates with partners on environmental monitoring, including ongoing work with SERNANP since 2020 on Project Inambari, which monitors Amazon gold mining, and related staff training on the Monitor platform. It has supported joint efforts such as mapping oil pollution with Greenpeace Romania. In December 2025 SkyTruth released an API that provides easier access to its mountaintop mining data.
