SHAPE America–Society of Health and Physical Educators is a professional membership association for health and physical education professionals in the United States. The organization serves a nationwide network of more than 200,000 members, including educators, advocates, supporters, and more than 50 state affiliates, and is based in Reston, Virginia. Since its founding in 1885, it has defined excellence in physical education and established National Standards for K-12 Physical Education, contributing to the development of National Health Education Standards. As a non-profit entity, SHAPE America supports educator resources and professional development and pursues partnerships to expand access to standards-aligned curricula. For example, in April 2026 the organization partnered with the NHL and NHL Players' Association to provide a no-cost, standards-aligned street hockey curriculum for use by educators.
