Shalhevet High School is a private, co-educational high school in Los Angeles offering a dual curriculum of Judaic studies and college preparatory academics. Rooted in Modern Orthodox practice, the school emphasizes Jewish heritage, democratic ideals, support for Israel, and the cultivation of critical and creative thinking on its campus at 910 S Fairfax Ave. Founded in 1992 by Dr. Jerry Friedman, Shalhevet was built around a 'Just Community' model inspired by Lawrence Kohlberg. Since its founding, it has served the Greater Los Angeles Jewish community and educated more than a thousand students who go on to universities or Yeshivot and Israeli study programs. In 2021 the school announced a partnership with Scottsdale's Jewish community to extend its high school experience to students in Scottsdale.
