Shalhevet High School, located in Los Angeles, California, is a private, co-ed, Modern Orthodox, Jewish High School with a rigorous dual curriculum of Judaic and college preparatory studies. The goals of Shalhevet School are to promote the values of our Jewish heritage, the ideals of American democracy and a passionate support for the welfare of the State of Israel, within an environment that encourages critical and creative thought. Shalhevet was founded in 1992 by Dr Jerry Friedman on the belief that the entire school experience should be a vehicle for moral growth and development. This goal was actualized through the establishment of a “Just Community” based on the model designed by Harvard Professor Lawrence Kohlberg. For the past twenty years, Shalhevet has played a pivotal role in the education of the greater Los Angeles Jewish community. Over a thousand students have passed through our hallways and have gone on to study at some of the finest universities in the world, as well as many of the top Yeshivot and programs of study in Israel. At Shalhevet, we are not just creating the learners of today, but the leaders of tomorrow.
