Shady Hill School is an independent, co-educational day school located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, founded in 1915. It serves students from Beginners (pre-kindergarten) through 8th grade and enrolls about 500 learners. The school has been led by Head of School Mark Stanek since 2010, making him the institution’s sixth director. Its Central Subject framework serves as a year-long organizing principle for history, literature, geography and writing, with grades III through VIII focusing their work around a specific topic—such as a people, period, idea or movement.
