Semester at Sea is a non-profit higher education program that provides a shipboard, globally oriented study abroad experience. Based in Fort Collins, Colorado, it collaborates with Colorado State University, which has served as its academic partner since 2016. Since its inception in 1963, more than 63,000 participants from about 1,700 institutions have traveled to more than 60 countries through Semester at Sea and its predecessor programs. Its academic program draws from more than 20 disciplines, offering up to 75 courses, each paired with an in-country field class to support experiential learning. Credits are accredited by CSU and fully transferable, with voyages typically lasting 100–110 days and covering 10–15 countries across four continents for 12–15 credits. The program operates on a shipboard campus aboard the MV World Odyssey and provides financial aid of up to four million dollars annually. In 2022 the organization launched a refreshed website and updated branding for its shipboard presence.
