Scouting America, Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council is a nonprofit organization that administers Scouting programs. Headquartered in South San Jose in the Silicon Valley region of California, the council serves four counties: San Benito, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Monterey. Guided by a staff and a board of directors, thousands of adult volunteers support a range of experiences intended to build life skills and a sense of community for youth. Its mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Each year, more than 9,000 youth participate in its programs, which are described as fun and challenging experiences. As a regional non-profit focused on youth development, the council operates through community volunteers and local partnerships to deliver its Scouting program across its service area.
