Scotch Oakburn College is an independent day and boarding school based in Launceston, Tasmania. It provides education from Early Learning (3 years) through Year 12, with boarding available from Year 6. The school serves about 1,300 students, including around 80 boarders, and operates on three campuses: Elphin, which houses Early Learning to Year 5 and the boarding house; Penquite, encompassing the Middle and Senior Schools and the business office; and the Valley Campus in Fingal Valley, home to its Education outdoors and Environment Centre. As a Uniting Church school, Scotch Oakburn is also the only Northern Tasmanian member of the Round Square network, a global association guided by Dr. Kurt Hahn’s educational principles. Its mission centers on providing a holistic education designed to help each student reach their potential, within a caring and inclusive community that seeks to create the future. In 2024, the college announced a collaboration with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra to offer streamed performances to the campus community, illustrating its approach to expanding learning experiences beyond the classroom.
