Save the Chimps, Inc. is a nonprofit sanctuary that rescues chimpanzees formerly used in research and related programs and provides lifelong care in a naturalistic setting. Based in Fort Pierce, Florida, it traces its origins to 1997 when Dr. Carole Noon led efforts to gain custody of 21 chimps, with later expansion following a major relocation of chimpanzees from New Mexico to Florida. A recent development includes a partnership with FedEx in 2022 to assist in transporting the Sunrise Seven to their permanent home.
