The Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association provides pre-hospital care and transportation for the sick and injured within its service district. Established in 1968, the organization began service in 1969 and has maintained around-the-clock coverage for decades. It is licensed to operate at the EMT-Intermediate Technician level. The district covers about 196 square miles across three counties and serves more than 14,600 residents. It includes the villages of Sauk City, Prairie du Sac and Merrimac, as well as the townships of Merrimac, Prairie du Sac and Roxbury, with portions of Troy, Honey Creek, Sumpter and West Point townships also part of the area. The association is governed by an Ambulance Commission with representatives from each municipality, and day-to-day operations are managed by a Director based in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin.
