Founded in 1931 by Mohammed Binladin, its early work included government contracts such as refurbishing the mosques in Mecca and Medina. The group is led by Bakr Binladin, Mohammed's grandson, and maintains a large workforce supported by international partnerships and multiple subsidiaries. SBG operates in the construction sector and participates in major infrastructure and large-scale projects, often through collaborations with other firms and public entities. A recent development is a strategic partnership with MAS Engineering & Construction to design and construct the infrastructure and underground utilities for the Ta'awon Entertainment Complex in Dammam. The company has also been involved in the Jeddah Tower project through a partnership with Jeddah Economic Company.
