The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority is a regional government agency dedicated to protecting land and water in the Santa Clara Valley. Its work includes safeguarding water resources and preserving landscapes and views while expanding outdoor and science education opportunities for local residents.

In late 2025, the authority initiated a public engagement process to understand community preferences for recreational use at Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve.
