The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is a public safety organization that provides all-hazard fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to communities in Contra Costa County, including Alamo, Blackhawk, the Town of Danville, Diablo, the City of San Ramon, the southern area of Morgan Territory, and the Tassajara Valley. Its service area spans about 155 square miles and serves a population of approximately 169,900. The district operates as an internationally accredited autonomous Special District governed by a five-member publicly elected Board of Directors, and it is located at 2401 Crow Canyon Road, Suite A, San Ramon, California. It maintains nine career fire stations, one volunteer-staffed station, and its own accredited 911 communications center, staffing fifteen companies with structure and wildland engines, ladder trucks, ALS ambulances, and specialized HazMat, Rescue, and Communications units. The Fire Prevention Division manages community risk reduction initiatives, including vegetation and hazard abatement programs, plan review and engineering services, code enforcement and fire investigations, and it also develops public education and emergency preparedness programs.
