The San Diego Community College District is a public higher education system based in San Diego, California. It comprises three two-year colleges: San Diego City College, San Diego Mesa College, and San Diego Miramar College, and seven Continuing Education campuses, offering associate degrees and certificates as well as arts and sciences programs that transfer to four-year institutions. The district serves roughly 100,000 students annually with both credit and noncredit instruction, supporting pathways to entry-level employment and college transfer. It ranks among the largest community college systems in the United States, being the second-largest in California and the sixth-largest nationally. In May 2026, the district's Board of Trustees approved a design-build team led by Hensel Phelps and Carrier Johnson + Culture to create the Mid-City Campus for the San Diego College of Continuing Education as part of the Measure HH Bond Program. Governing authority rests with a locally elected five-member Board of Trustees and rotating student members, with the Chancellor serving as chief executive.
