SACADA is a San Antonio-based nonprofit focused on preventing and addressing alcohol and drug use through prevention, intervention, and recovery support services. Founded in 1957, the organization originally supported adults with alcoholism and later broadened its remit to include drug addiction, adding youth prevention programs in 1987 delivered at no cost in schools. Its offerings include youth prevention curricula delivered to students in Bexar and surrounding counties, along with recovery coaching provided free of charge to assist individuals transitioning from treatment with housing, employment, court obligations, and peer recovery support. The nonprofit provides comprehensive drug and alcohol assessments and referrals recognized by the Texas Board of Law Examiners, establishes community coalitions to promote drug-free communities, and serves as a regional hub for prevention, education and training with free presentations to professionals, youth, adults, clergy, and educators. In 2022, SACADA expanded into the Texas Hill Country by acquiring the Hill Country Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, with Abigail Moore serving as CEO for both organizations.
