The Royal River Conservation Trust is a small environmental services organization based in Yarmouth, Maine, dedicated to conserving the natural, recreational, scenic, agricultural, and historic resources of the Royal River region. Its work aims to maintain ecologically healthy lands and waters that support both recreational and commercial activities for current and future generations. To date, RRCT has protected about 6,020 acres, including 16 preserves totaling 1,120 acres and 62 conservation easements covering 2,010 acres, and it continues to pursue new projects. The organization has also assisted in creating or expanding 18 municipal and state parks, preserves, and wildlife areas totaling 2,890 acres, and it manages more than 7 miles of Royal River shoreline and 25 miles of hiking trails across several towns. A concrete development in 2026 involves plans to remove the Bridge Street dam and install a fishway, with work slated for that summer. RRCT operates within the environmental services sector, collaborating with local governments and communities to conserve land and expand public access to trails and waterways.
