RiverRun International Film Festival is a non-profit cultural organization in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, focused on cinema as a conduit for powerful ideas and diverse viewpoints. Its mission is to broaden appreciation of film and deepen understanding of people, cultures, and perspectives through exposure to a broad range of works and dialogue with filmmakers. Each spring, the festival screens feature-length and short films from across genres and has historically drawn international guests, such as in 2012 when it presented more than 140 films from 25 countries and hosted nearly 100 filmmakers and industry professionals. Beyond screenings, RiverRun runs a broad slate of events, including regional premieres, celebrity tributes, family matinees, classic retrospectives, as well as panel discussions and social gatherings. The organization also runs programs targeting filmmakers and students, such as its annual Pitch Fest and related public panels, highlighting opportunities for feedback and engagement. In late 2024 the festival underwent a leadership transition following the retirement of its executive director, with a new executive director taking the helm.
