Richer Sounds was established in November 1978. Until May 2019, Richer Sounds was 100% owned by Julian Richer, the company’s Founder and MD. On 10th May 2019 Julian transferred 60% of his shares into an Employee Owned Trust, giving all employees a real say in the decision-making process and future of the business.
 
Richer Sounds is a retailer and e-tailer of hi-fi, home cinema and TV equipment and its focus is always on offering value for money and excellent customer service. There are now 51 UK stores and it is the biggest specialist hi-fi and home entertainment retailer in the country.
 
At Richer Sounds, we focus on being a responsible business to our customers and to our colleagues. Here are a few of the accreditations and accolades we hold:

• We currently hold the Which? Award for being Retailer of the Year. We have won this 5 times in 10 years.
• We are a Living Wage accredited employer and none of our colleagues are on zero-hour contracts.
• We hold a Fair Tax Mark for transparency over tax disclosure and amount of tax paid 
• We recently became the first retailer to be accredited by the Mayor for his Good Work Standard for London which recognises businesses that work hard to provide great working environments.
