Regulus is the brightest star in the Leo constellation and has played a key role in navigation for millenia. The star was named after Marcus Atilius Regulus, who chose death rather than breaking his word of honour. In the equine world, Regulus was an undefeated racehorse and one of the most important thoroughbred sires of the Eighteenth Century.
