Rainbow Municipal Water District is a special California governmental agency governed under the California Water Code that provides water and sanitation services. It serves the unincorporated communities of Rainbow, Bonsall, Oceanside, and part of Fallbrook, in northwestern San Diego County. The district operates more than 9,200 water meters across about 80 square miles, supplying agricultural and residential customers, and it collects and transports wastewater for approximately 2,800 customers to a treatment facility in Oceanside. Based in Fallbrook, California, the district describes its work as providing safe and dependable water and wastewater services in a fiscally sustainable manner, guided by core values including integrity, professionalism, responsibility, teamwork, and innovation. In February 2024 Rainbow Municipal Water District appointed Rick Aragon as chief financial officer to advance its management of water resources. The district has earned recognition as a Top Workplace in 2021 and 2022.
