Public Radio International was a Minneapolis-based nonprofit organization that produced and distributed informative public radio programming for American audiences. Founded in 1983, PRI helped shape the landscape with The World, the first daily news program offering a global perspective, and Studio 360, a show examining pop culture and the arts. The organization earned recognition for its journalism, including the DuPont-Columbia and Peabody Awards, and at its peak reached millions of weekly listeners. In 2018, PRI merged with Public Radio Exchange (PRX) to form a broader public media presence and no longer operates as a separate entity. The legacy of PRI continues through its programs and their impact within public radio.
