Propel Schools is a network of public charter schools delivering scholar-centered learning across Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Since its founding in 2003, the organization has grown to operate thirteen K–12 schools that emphasize core academics—reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies—while also prioritizing fundamental life skills to cultivate productive citizens. The schools bring together educators, families, scholars, and community partners to address each student’s academic and foundational needs, with a focus on achieving strong educational outcomes in a collaborative environment. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Propel Schools positions itself within the education administration space as a provider of high-performing public charter schools. The network has developed a regional footprint spanning several communities, including Homestead, Hazelwood, McKeesport, Montour, Munhall, Turtle Creek, Braddock Hills, Northside, and Pitcairn, and has demonstrated ongoing collaboration with local organizations, such as Rivers of Steel Heritage Corporation on community-based projects. A recent leadership appointment at Propel Schools indicates continued growth and continued emphasis on instructional leadership within the network.
