The Prince William Sound Science Center is an independent research and education nonprofit based in Cordova, Alaska, with a mission to advance knowledge of Alaska's coastal ecosystems. Operating since 1989, it conducts programs to understand the Prince William Sound and Copper River Delta and to share relevant science with residents, resource managers, and local stakeholders. The organization works within the research services field to document ecological change linked to climate and other environmental pressures that affect livelihoods and living resources. In recent years it has engaged in activities such as participating in the Alaska Marine Science Symposium in January 2026 and developing a remotely operated surface vessel for oil spill response through its Oil Spill Response Institute in collaboration with industry partners. It has pursued long-term collaborations, including partnering with the Ocean Tracking Network to deploy underwater sensing in Prince William Sound and supporting wildlife projects such as the Tufted Puffin project on Middleton Island.
