Practus, LLP is a law practice founded by John Lively and Robert Elwood, based in Washington, DC. The firm positions itself as offering a more flexible and client-friendly legal service, emphasizing sophisticated advice and predictable economics to foster strong client relationships, while also seeking to reduce traditional pressures on attorneys such as heavy billable-hour targets and opaque compensation structures. Its stated target market includes clients seeking full-service legal representation with a focus on efficiency and a clear, practical approach to matters. Practus describes itself as distinct within the legal industry by aiming to operate with a greater purpose, and it has actively pursued partnerships and events, including a recent collaboration with Harneys Group to host a webinar on private fund trends in the Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands. The firm has a history dating back to its launch in 2018, when it began with a smaller team, and it has since grown while continuing to publish insights and engage in industry conversations.
