Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility serving the Kansas City Northland region, delivering power across Buchanan, Caldwell, Clay, Clinton, DeKalb, Platte, and Ray Counties, along about 3,100 miles of energized lines to more than 26,500 active services. The organization was founded in 1938 and is considered one of Missouri's faster-growing electric cooperatives. It is affiliated with Touchstone Energy, a national alliance of member-owned rural electric cooperatives operating in 46 states. Based in Kearney, Missouri, the cooperative functions as a mid-sized regional energy provider serving a mix of urban and rural customers in the Kansas City area. Its extensive line network and service footprint reflect its role as a local, member-owned utility within a broader rural electricity network. In December 2024, Platte-Clay Electric Co-op partnered with Meals of Hope to package 10,000 pasta meals for area food pantries, reflecting community engagement beyond its core grid operations.
