Pilot Light is a Chicago-based nonprofit founded by chefs that promotes food education for PreK–12 students. It partners with educators to weave food topics into everyday classroom learning through professional development programs and an online Food Education Center. The organization provides curricular resources and training designed to help teachers incorporate food systems, nutrition, and hands-on food learning into their instruction. Operating in the nonprofit education sector, Pilot Light targets PreK–12 teachers and schools seeking to integrate food education into curricula, addressing gaps in food literacy and interdisciplinary learning. In July 2025, the organization released its Food Education Standards, a comprehensive framework for embedding food education across PreK–12 classrooms.
