Penn East FCU is a federally insured financial services credit union employing between 11 and 50 people and headquartered at 441 North 7th Avenue, Scranton, Pennsylvania 18503. The credit union was chartered on May 3, 1938 as Scranton, Pennsylvania Teachers Federal Credit Union and was renamed Scranton and NE Educational Federal Credit Union in 1974 before adopting its current name in 1994. Founder and original manager Mark Raymond led the organization from its founding in 1938 until his death in 1973, after which his wife Mildred Raymond ran it from 1973 to 1980. Penn East FCU grew to become the third largest credit union in Lackawanna County and obtained a community charter on December 21, 2004 that includes Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wyoming counties.
