Pacesetters Inc. is a nonprofit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee. Founded in the summer of 1971 by local volunteers and family members, the organization began as an adult activities center aimed at supporting meaningful daily life for adults with developmental disabilities, with operations starting in October 1971. It has grown into one of the largest providers of day and residential services for the I/DD community in Tennessee. As of 2022, Pacesetters delivers day and residential services in five Tennessee counties through the 1915c Waiver, CHOICES, and the Employment and Community First Choices Waiver. Pacesetters is contracted with the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to oversee the Family Support Program, a grant-based initiative that provides needed supports, services, and equipment to individuals with severe disabilities and their families so they can remain in their community; the program serves all fourteen counties of the Upper Cumberland. In April 2023 the organization announced the appointment of Larry Rector as Executive Director.
