PA Humanities operates as an independent partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities and is part of a national network of 56 State Humanities Councils. Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the organization works with a range of partners to deliver humanities-focused programs across the state.

Its mission is to build and lead a network that champions the humanities and helps Pennsylvanians think critically, grow, and engage with their communities. A recent development involves partnering with Route 6 Alliance and Community Heart & Soul to support Honesdale's journey toward a stronger, more vibrant community through PA Heart & Soul. PA Humanities collaborates with local institutions and organizations in communities across Pennsylvania to support humanities-based initiatives.
