Oyster Recovery Partnership is a nonprofit organization based in Annapolis, Maryland, focused on restoring oyster populations throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Oysters serve as a keystone species because their filter-feeding improves water quality and their reefs provide habitat for submerged vegetation and other Bay species, including the blue crab. The group’s work seeks to advance ecological health alongside the economic benefits tied to a robust oyster industry. It has more than two decades of experience working with the seafood sector on sustainable fisheries management. Recent developments include a project partnership with TradePoint Atlantic and Terminal Investment Limited to support oyster restoration initiatives. The ORP also engages the broader research and policy community, presenting research and field experiences at conferences such as CERF.
