OUT Maine is a nonprofit organization based in Rockland, Maine, dedicated to fostering inclusive communities for queer youth across the state. It seeks to reform the systems that serve young people—schools, healthcare, foster care, and community organizations—to better reflect their intersectional identities. With a focus on Maine’s rural and under-resourced regions, the organization develops targeted programs and training to support youth. Across the state, OUT Maine pursues three objectives: providing social support and role models for LGBTQ+ youth and their families and allies; helping young people develop authentic, resilient identities; and educating healthcare providers, educators, clergy, and other professionals who influence their lives. Its work aims to involve a broad range of stakeholders in building resilience and life skills so that queer youth can thrive. One notable development in 2025 is a partnership with the Onion Foundation to expand educational cohorts in the arts and culture sector.
